My first wedding shoot is Saturday. Rehearsal tonight. Outdoor wedding (expected sunny and high 90's - gonna be hot and humid!).

Stressed for a week or so - now I'm just glad it's here so I can get it over with ... good or bad!

But first, I have to attend a funeral this morning (unexpectedly, as most are!)

May the light be with you. I have one this Saturday and the following Saturday.

Good luck. I like that...may the light be with you. I'll have to remember that.

Last night's rehearsal was extremely helpful. It's a small outdoor venue with a roof, but open on three sides. I picked up a small flash (Speedlite 270EX) and it seems to do the job. Very glad I was able to 'play around' at the rehearsal and get my settings figured out. Still going to be a long, stressful day, but feeling pretty good about it.

question for the 'seasoned' wedding photographers - do you shoot in AF or manual?

AF is a tool! Why not use it? Weddings can be so fast paced, you won't have time to be finding correct focus all day...maybe in the "old days" when you shot film and only took a max of 200 pics did you have time to worry about focusing. These days, I'll shoot between 1000-1500 images depending on the size/length of the wedding. The more important aspect is to get "the shot". And if your worried about focusing, you'll probably miss it.

Sent from Erics iPhone! (2) Nikon D300 50mm 1.4, 17-55 2.8, 70-200 2.8VRII, 24-70 2.8, 85mm 1.4, (2) SB900

Thanks. I typically do. My concern is while they are walking down the isle.

I dont even know where to turn my lens to focus closer or farther.

Packed and on my way. gonna be a LOOONNNNGGGG day! But I think I'm ready!

Thinking of you and can't wait for some shares.

man what a long day! started at 3:00 - ended at 11:00. Took over 1,000 (for my own protection!) I'll post some in the next day or so. Typical stupid mistakes here and there - too much flash in some situations, not enough in others. The Maid of Honor has shot weddings before, so that added a little pressure at first, but she was great and very helpful (as well as complimentary of my approach to getting the proper shots, taking charge, etc.)

The one basic thing I'm damn glad I did was make sure I had enough memory cards and a second battery for the camera. More time to practice with the flash would have made for far fewer mistakes. but all in all, I'm very happy and the families seemed to be also. Picked up a second wedding coming up in August from the sister of the groom (the mother liked my shots, and approved).

Thanks to all of you for all the support and comments. GLAD to get this monkey off my back!
