Want to move to canada?!

Keep in mind that when people say that areas in the GTA are a bit pricey...it's often two to three times more expensive than it is in most other areas of Canada.

The crime around (in Scarborough)has become annoying. I have been busted into twice in two years.

I first read this as "I've been busted twice in two years" :cokespit:

Now thats funny.:lmao: I did the same, when I read my own post. I thought...what was I thinking. I have never been busted, but Im ready to do some busting. :gun: :playball:

Funnily enough, I've been thinking the same thing. I own my flat now in London, but there is no way that I will ever be able to afford the mortgage to step up to a house. As far as I'm concerned the only area in the UK worth living in is London - I love diversity and cities, but outside of London the salaries in my field of work plummet in proportion to the house prices, so you are stuffed either way. The temptation to just give up and go and work in a bar somewhere is immense!

The crime in my neighbourhood is very good for London, but that said in 2003 there were 30,919 criminal offences prosecuted. That's in a town.

Of those crimes, about 4,000 were burglaries, 6,000 criminal damage, 500 drugs, 1,600 fraud, 800 robbery, 240 sexual offences, 12,000 car theft, 8,000 violence against the person and about 10 murders. That's only the ones they caught, and remember, that's just my town - one of the better ones!!

Now, I'm no fan of FUD, but the numbers are pretty horrifying. None of my friends will drink in the town centre as this is the gladiatorial chav fighting pit of choice in the evenings. I'd quite like to live somewhere where it is safe to walk alone at night, and where you can get a beer without being bottled.

Also keep in mind that the average income is a lot more too.

That's may be true...and there are certainly many careers that are feasible in the GTA, that would be hard to live off of, in most other areas of the country.

Although, there are definitely areas where it's easy to make lots of money and not have to pay half a million for a decent house. Alberta is experiencing a boom right now, because of Oil & Gas. Besides Fort MacMurray, most of Calgary and parts of Edmonton...it's still very reasonable to buy a house.

I don't know for sure, but I would think that the average salary in Alberta is near, or higher, than Ontario...for the time being at least. At the same time, the average cost of living is almost certainly lower here. I'm not saying that one is better than the other...that's a personal choice. But if someone is moving to Canada...might as well get, while the getting is good.

Just ask the Newfies...half of them have moved to Alberta for work

Scaffolders on $13/hour?

That's about £6.40 here!

Scaffolders here are on between £8-£12/hour! (about $16-$24)

Is the cost of living quite cheap over there?

No no! 13$ is what people at mcdonalds and walmart make! Scaffolders are easily up in the 22$ for a first year rate.

Ooo another question, i have a yorkshire terrier whos 9 now would i be able to bring him into the country easily or are there rules and regulations on that??

hiya...I have some friends whoe were living in the UK but have recently moved backed to Canada and brought thier dog with them. He told me (this was last june) he paid £640 to lodge his dog in quarantine b4 shipping him to Canada. Ouch! Since then tho the laws have been repealed, according to him, and now this process no longer exists or has been greatly simplified and hopefully cheapened.
good luck!

i wana move to Canada lol...... for the freaking Snowboarding!!! Whistler for the win!

It's true they are getting paid that. My friends a scaffolder up there and said that if you're making less than 13$/hr up there your the only one.

But I hear Alberta's pretty cool. Lotsa jobs. Half the people at my welding shop are from Ontario....

Whats the cost of living for Alberta? Pay may be high, but expenses might be high to pay for it, hehe.

How much is a can of pepsi there from the convience store? Its $1.something here in ON, hehe.

Personally I would find Toronto to crowded and busy. I like living half an hour from a larger area. That way you live in a quiet and nice area, and the city isnt to far away for some entertainment. If your in your own business, you could market yourself there if you want for the more customers. :0)
