I just read Nikon D3200 for Dummies today. A camera might as well be better for taking pictures. Although it did not rule out the camera for video, the book subtly implies to use a video. There are intricate matters discussed about video which I did not understand .Paraphrasing....

it 'did not rule out using camera for video' but there were intricate explanations which I did not understand but having an A+ in English literature and writing, my comprehension suggested disheartening switch to video..Read it. Nikon D3200 for dummies by Julie Adair King. It warned of some sort of minor breakdown of a module... common among all cameras.

No reason to read it. Tools are made for specific purposes. To whit: Hammer to pound in nails. Saw to cut wood. Video camera to record video. It's the logical progression in the use of tools.
