Like data backup? 2 external 1 TB HDDs backed up at the same time for double protection.

Other wise I have a shovel, pitchfork, and maddox.

are you talking about backup gear for your digital camera setup?

Mine is basically my old D3100 with the kit lens. If something were to go wrong with the D7000 or my better glass, I know I could deliver good results with the D3100 and kit lens. I'd just have greater limitations on what I could do, and I'd have to work harder/things would take longer to do.

I keep no images on my working hard drive that has my OS and programs on it.
Then I have an internal hard drive that contains only my working images for the past 6 months.
That gets backed up to a second hard drive here on site and an off site.

I have a Windows Home Server 2011 with two 2TB arrays on a decent Intel raid controller. First 2TB is used for storage which I have nightly scripts that backup my photos and other things I think are backup worthy. The second 2TB array stores restore images the Windows Home Server 2011 takes of my desktops. I basically can completely restore a desktop over network in case of a complete failure. It will restore everything as it was when it took the last (or earlier) nightly backup.

The biggest glaring issue with my backup process is that I have no off site backups. I have considered carbonite for this but decided I am already anal retentive enough. The WS2011 is my old dual core desktop with a Intel SRCSASJV raid controller and 3x1tb drives in a raid 5 and 2x2tb drives in a raid 1 setup.

I DO NOT recommend this setup for non-tech savvy users. Its overly complicated and overly redundant. It didn't cost me anything as it was all extra parts I had lying around which is why I use it. Windows Home Server 2011 is also finicky with its backups and probably will never have a future version released.

I DO recommend using a system like Carbonite to backup your images in conjunction with external USB drives or even better mini nas devices such as DROBO or Synology.

On my newest computer, I have twin SSDs for Windows and My Documents, and twin 1TB drives for everything else. I simply clone 1 SSD to the other, and remove the original C: and put it in a case, and move the clone to where C: was. The same technique is done on the 1TB drives. All are on slide-in bays, so it's only 10 seconds or so to insert/remove/swap as needed. I make SSD backups/swaps weekly, and 1TB backups when I've finished working on a 'project' and want it off my SSDs.

I also have a 1TB USB external drive for offsite storage. I used to keep my offsite storage in my desk drawer, but in my current job, I don't have a desk of my own, so I store it in a cabinet at church, and my pastor knows that all my church pictures, etc, are on that drive, in case I am no longer able to serve. I simply clone the 'current' 1TB in the computer to the external drive, about once a month or so.

Until I have a project on the external drive, I carry a full copy of the project (RAW, and in-process versions) in my pocket on one or more 16mb flash drives! I'm always concerned that I may come home to an empty house, a ransacked house, or a burned down one. Living in Massachusetts, I also expected one of my two big hollowed-out-by-rot maple trees to come down this week...perhaps on my house. Needless to say, I spent Sunday making backups and getting the offsite drive back to church. Fortunately, we got off VERY easy from Sandy.
