Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
I was wondering what is your favorite point and shoot under $200? I have a few point and shoots that I use when I am not using my SLR. I am often disappointed with the point and shoots and wind up returning them or selling them on ebay. My all time favorite is my old Fuji Finepix E550 (6Mp). I also like my Samsung SL605 (12 mp) and my Kodak EasyShare Z1485 (14 mp).

I didn't like a Canon I tried, A Kodak C183, a casio Exilim and two Nikons. I am really picky about my photos and find that most point and shoots just don't give you sharp photos. I would love to hear if anyone has found a great quality point and shoot!

Thanks! Now I will list the Kodak C183 on ebay that I bought two weeks ago and after playing with it, don't like it!

You've already said you don't like Canon, so I can't help, because I shot with various Canon Powershots for years before finally upgrading to a DSLR a short time ago and I loved every one of them. My last one was an a630, and I mostly used it on manual, Aperture- or Shutter-Priority.
It's still the camera that gets stuck into my purse and goes with me when I don't want to have to carry the DSLR.
It's an awesome little camera and produced about as sharp a photo as you can really ask for from a point-and-shoot. It's just that there is only so much you can ASK of a point-and-shoot. In fact, I had some photos I took with it published in a magazine, and one was used on the front cover, so they were pretty sharp images.
It's quite a few years old, and "only" 8 mp, but I've never had a bit of trouble with it, and have always been quite pleased with the images I've gotten from it.

Both of my point and shoots were both over $200, does that count me out?  I personally wouldn't spend under two hundred, the quality just isn't there, but that's just me. My first camera - well it was supposed to be the family camera, but I "stole" it and used it all the time - was a Kodak Easyshare Z712 (7.1 mp). It was $250.00 before the rebate and it served me well. Not the greatest in low light, but then again it is a point and shoot and I didn't know that much about how to photograph in low-light. I took it to an outdoor concert once and it started drizzling lightly while I was shooting and it wasn't effected at all. I'd been using it about four years this spring when suddenly you could hear something rattling inside when the camera was tilted. A good excuse as any to upgrade... Never had it looked at or anything, and save for the review function not wanting to work a couple of times, the rattling eventually went away and you'd never know anything was "wrong" with it. I still use it occasionally, but mom uses it mostly now.

With the Kodak threatening to "die at any moment," I bought Canon's Powershot SX20 (12.1 mp) for about $400. Couldn't afford a DSLR and I didn't feel ready to jump off the cliff into that world yet. I've had it since June and it hasn't let me down yet.

You said you didn't like Canon, maybe another Kodak?

I had a great little HP as my first digital camera. Easy to use, took a beating and produced some decent shots for a P&S. I loved it... Sadly it has been lost or stolen. :(

Favorites...

Canon G5 (With the exception of the G7, all the Canon G-series are pretty good in terms of features and quality for a P&S. My friend loves the G9)
Panasonic LX3 (Fast wide lens and image quality is probably one of the tops for a P&S. A bit short in zoom range)
Panasonic TZ5 (Small enough super zoom)

If I were to get another today; Canon S95 due to the size. I notice the S100 has been announced.

Come on folks, look at dates before posting. We don't need to dig up threads that have been dead for over ten years.
