believe me everyone, its an aquired taste and i think you just need to have grown up with it. aussies are the only people who seem to like it.

its like the Irish and black pudding. how they eat that stuff is beyond me!

The trouble is people put it on far too thick - it ain't like peanut butter - you have to be REALLY sparing with it.

But even as an Ozzie - I only like it on fresh baked bread.

I just realised the best way of explaining vegemite to you Americans and Poms. It is a yeast extract - it in fact is mate from a by-product of the beer brewing process. Imagine spreading really thick, strong beer on a piece of bread - that will set your taste expectations pretty much perfectly.
