My inspiration to dive into the wonderful world of photography was a friend of my husbands. When we were in college he took some pretty good photos with the Minolta point and shoot he had. The nature photos he took spoke to me. This was about 5 years ago. When he upgraded his camera he gave his camera to me for $50.

I always liked taking photos, capturing moments. I was a photo junky just in terms of always wanting photos of family and friends. But when he gave me that camera is when I really took to photography.

To this day I really owe him a big thanks for opening my eyes. I'm sure I would have with time been turned onto photography. But he gave me that inspiring push I needed.

How about everyone else?

Sorry if this is a regularly asked question. If it is please feel free to remove this thread.

I bought a nice camera and decided to become a pro ;)

Isn't that how everyone does it? lol.

I just always wanted to take photo's. I can remember as far back as 3 or 4 years old with my Ninja Turtles camera taking pictures of everything. It's just always been there. My mom inspired me with her support. She didn't look at me like I was crazy when I asked her for an $800 film camera when I was 16. Even though she ended up getting the wrong camera (a Kodak bridge camera) she genuinely tried to support my photography.

Oh wow that's so great of your mom. For me I've always had the 'artistic' drive. Painting, drawing, :blushing:knitting, anything that could give me a creative release. Because of being heavily into sports I was never able to explore it to the extent that I would have liked.

Loved the Ninja Turtles bit :)

I don't really think I have one source of inspiration...

It's just something I've always wanted to do since high school.

I would spend lots of time looking through photos that "spoke to me" and in the back of my mind always wanted to be able to do it, but never did anything about it until recently.

I honestly can't think of a starting point. I know when it was that I TRIED to originally pick it up, only be to road blocked from it... but I can't think of any one source of "inspiration".
What photographer did you admire the most when you were just starting out?

For me it was a local wedding photographer.

No inspiration. Just picked up another creative outlet.

Yea I know what you mean. There was while between the age of like 18 and the past year and change that I wasn't into to photography as much. In that time I was in graphic design school so I've always had some artistic outlet.

Yeah, I honestly think this is how it went for me too. That's the only way I can describe it.

Actually Keith's GRANDMOTHER described it like that for me.

When I was talking to her and explaining my obsession with photography and that I wasn't really sure what sparked it, her exact response was "Well, it makes sense. With you being in music and being a creative person, it makes sense. Most creative people have more than one creative thing that they do."

so there it is. :lmao:
very true
