Here is the EXIF data from the picture of the baby.............

EXIF Sub IFD

* Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 1/20 second ===> 0.05 second
* Lens F-Number / F-Stop = 31/10 ===> ƒ/3.1
* Exposure Program = creative program (slow program, depth of field) (5)
* ISO Speed Ratings = 400
* EXIF Version = 0221
* Original Date/Time = 2011:03:15 11:14:01
* Digitization Date/Time = 2011:03:15 11:14:01
* Components Configuration = 0x01,0x02,0x03,0x00 / YCbCr
* Exposure Bias (EV) = 3/10 ===> 0.3
* Max Aperture Value (APEX) = 326/100 ===> 3.26
Max Aperture = ƒ/3.1
* Metering Mode = center weighted average (2)
* Light Source / White Balance = cool white fluorescent (14)
* Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
* Focal Length = 630/100 mm ===> 6.3 mm

SS=1/20 probably to slow for hand held shots. You will probably need to increase your shutter speed or use a tripod. That should help your focus, I think.

looks like f3.1 is as open as that cam gets.

damn

Using 1/20sec is a bit (a lot) slow. Not sure if you can set it to manual and bump the shutter speed to at least 1/250. You may have to increase the ISO as well. You also have a WB problem too.

Hope this helps.

Have you ordered the new camera yet? You should probably check to see if it has those features before you do!
