I'd like to say I totally planned this but it was an accident. As soon as I saw it I went "ohhhh... I get it... sure... wow... neat!" but never would have thought of it on my own.

Ballistics got it... Or at least I think he did.

It was a covered bridge (with sides). There were small gaps between the boards. With those gaps and the motion of the train it wound up working out like lots of little shutters. Really wild but makes total sense when you think about it.
