Boat on a lake

Not sure if I should have had the boat more to the right of the frame. Let me know what you think....all comments welcome!!

color looks washed out. i think the picture would look better if the boat was more to the left. what camera settings are you using like auto, manual, aperture priority, shutter priority? just curious because the colors in your pictures seem to be really washed out in my opinion. might just be me though.

I think the composition is good, but I felt it needed alittle post processing.
Hope you don't mind, I took a stab at an edit. Here are my steps, 1) Auto levels adjustment. 2.) Saturation 3.) Unsharpen mask 4.)Crop

Thanks guys, this is all new to me and I would like to create some great work with lots of practice! What software would you recommend for a beginner for editing my pictures? I love what you have done and I agree the colours are a bit 'wishy washy', I am taking most of my photo's at the moment using auto focus!!

either use the software that came wit ur camera...or take a shot at photoshop cs3. enjoy!

I think it would have been nice to have the boat on the left side of the frame and include more of that covered bridge on the right side of the frame.

How much are you willing to spend? Photoshop Elements 7 is a good place to start. Unless your camera came with photo editing software already...if it did, try that one for now.

Download Google's Picasa and start playing around... it's a free way to get into it.

Use GIMP... Its alittle complicated but once you figure it out... well worth it, and capable of pretty much everything cs4 will do. Best of all... IT'S FREE!!!!
