bug on iris in the flower garden

getting my feet wet and trying to test my skills at macro. this is one of the first ones i actually put a little bit of time into, using a tripod

one of just a flower, i am amazed at the quality when i looked at the raw at 100% the middle of the flower had so much detail

You have a good eye for composition on both of these images. There is a great contrast between the insect and the iris. The colors on the iris are somewhat muted, whereas they are much more vibrant on the insect.

I like the second one as well, if I were to make any criticisms of it, I wish there were just a little bit more of the center of the flower in it.

I love #1 it is delicious!
Detail is great in #2 and I like the composition. I'm with STM, it is almost there but something is missing, perhaps it's a symmetry thing? Maybe moving the center of the flower up a smidge so it has an equal amount of space below it as there is on the left might help.
