D3000 wired remote

Hey newbie here. I received a D3000 for Xmas and have been going nuts on accessories for it. I really want a wired remote for it to do bulb exposures and am having a hard time funding one that fits. I ordered one from eBay and it came with a square plug that fits nothing on the camera. Am I missing something? Is there a spot on the camera that I am not aware of for the remote? I do have a wireless remote but wanted one that I could lock down.
