I noticed this fly that hadn't moved all morning long, and I thought that was rather odd...

Great shots. He must have come into contact with something very unhealthy on one of his last stops. Pays to look before you land!

Yes, the crab spider was in the process of eating it. Yep, on a butterfly milkweed in my garden. The individual flowers are about 5mm across, to give you an idea of scale.
