Your photos really are not bad at all. I liked them and they looked like you knew what you were doing. If you're at the level you're at (even if it's a step or two below a true pro) I don't think it's a crime to ask for a small amount that would be much less than what they could be charged but takes into account that the photos are tons better than what they could do with a P&S.

your right on that they got quoted for $1,300 and it was a small wedding just about 100 ppl. i would be happy to get them an album, have them pay it and 100 for me to save for a new camera.. i think its fair, but idk yet lol

yes i did I'm in a car club, so i go to lots of car shows and have so much fun doing it.

Ask for $100??? Are you kidding me? Just give them the files and let them give whatever they want. I'm sure they will give you more than $100 anyway.

I know you seem to have come up with an idea of what you are going to do... But here are my thoughts anyhoo... You were asked right? And its not a close friend? Just ask them to cover the expenses. If you were not originally invited for the wedding add in gas and whatnot... Maybe you aren't a pro but that doesn't mean YOU should have to pay for them to have pictures... Right?

The bride is a close friend, not as much as here sister. I know the whole family practically, and yes i was asked, if u i could shoot the wedding. I don't even know if i was invited as a friend or as a Photographer... HUH... that's a good question..

I'm kinda curious what the big deal over being paid is. He took very decent photos and they offered to pay him something from the start. People spend $50-100 getting dinner very easily. I would totally offer to do it for free but if they were offering something I do not find anything wrong with asking for a small amount if the work you're providing is decent.

Or am I off basis?

i got a lot off ppl telling different things. All you guys as this being a Photography forum board and as being Photographers know it's not only fun but work to do these kind on events. So it did take time to take them, and go through them on PS and touch them up a lil. Even thou i don't have nothing else to do with my time. Since im Disabled, cause of a work related injury on my knee i'm off/ been off of work for a year. Don't have nothing really to do. Anyways staying on the subjected, I kind of have a feeling that another friend of mine will want my photography service. See I'am in a car club, they all know i love to do this. They seen my work and they like it. So a few months ago, i got to told to do a Quinceanera ( sweet 15/16). he seen my work before the wedding and liked it. I'm pretty sure he will like it more now that he sees the wedding photos. The Quinceanera is this month. Now im still confused if i should charge him, and if i do How much.. Maybe i should start working on my portfolio so ppl can see my work. any ways i'm still greatful that you all took time to view and comment on my thread, still any C&C is welcomed...

Build your portfolio by offering very discounted pricing. Just let them know that you are a new photographer and that you are just trying to build your portfolio but you need to have your costs and time covered.
