Hello. New member here and complete beginner photographer

The K-1000 is a good solid camera with a mechanical shutter.
You can use a smart phone for light metering.
The lens ... hmmm.
Not sure if that is a good price.

Can you explain mechanical shutter? And I apologize for my ignorance.

I just want to thank you guys for answering all my stupid questions. I realize they're probably very simple and tedious but I got to start somewhere.

No problem ... your questions just make us old people feel useful..

... not that I am OLD, just old enough in Photography.

I realize I could probably find decent ones dirt cheap on ebay but I have trust issues with the 'bay.

That does say it comes with a telephoto zoom lens ... though may not be the most versatile focal range.

My grandmother always told me you're only as old as you feel and I think there's something in that. Especially as I get older. :biglaugh:

I typically have something old that I am repairing ... though right now I am not sure if I have anything suitable.

Is there any difference between DSLR and mirrorless? Or if I'm completely offtrack just what IS a mirrorless camera?
