What's new

Hospital displaying my work.

Nice lyonsroar! Have fun with it and I hope it brings about some good things for you. Even if nobody opens their wallet's you will have the satisfaction of knowing that maybe your work helped relax a kid, or Parent, that is going through a very tough time.

Apparently you did not read the thread LIKE HE VERY FIRST POST that started this thread

I did read the entire thread, even post #4 (which I quoted) that you must of missed... again.

Are you drunk? Obviously you didn't. He has quoted the original poster who stated the hospital was paying for everything. What about that did you miss?

I'm glad you're doing it. It's for such a wonderful cause, and even if no sales come out of it, you're helping a great place.

Maybe OP is delusional or something. Made it all up. In the first post he said no budget, donation, no pay then 6 minutes later he says they are paying it all. I don't know. Don't care. But I have noticed that the attack dogs on forums common occurrence is in full speed on this thread. Apparently the attack dogs choose to ignore the first post, it don't match well with the attack mode.

Without any information to the contrary, I'll make the assumption that this is a hospital which is focused on actually helping people, and not one of those huge, corporate monoliths looking only at the bottom line.

Understand that "getting your name out there" won't. I've done hundreds of hours of charity/free work (because I can afford to and I support in the causes) and I can count on the fingers of no hands the number of paying jobs that have come back to me. On the plus side, there is probably a total of about $5000 in potential tax write-off.

Next, let's sort out the difference between working for free and donating your work. IF you want to support this hospital, and IF you believe or know that they couldn't afford to pay for your work (beyond the cost of materials), and IF you feel that the purpose is worthwhile, then this is a DONATION, not "Working for free". "Working for free" is giving something to someone/some group/company that can afford to pay, but doesn't want to, and where the benefit of the work is solely for them.

Donating on the other hand is something done to support a [in our mind] worthwhile cause, and to benefit others (in this case the patients). Granted, the hospital might actually have the money to pay your fees, BUT that could mean that they would have to skip on something else. NEVER confuse a donation for "working for free".

Helping others is NEVER a bad thing!

The hospital is paying all expenses!!!

Printing, mounting, framing, hanging, the screw that goes into the wall, the workman that screws the screw in, the cleaning crew that dusts the picture, EVERYTHING!

I've made my mind up and I'm going to do it. I've got nothing to lose, the only thing that can come out of it is good...

Glad you've decided to do it! :hugs:

Missed the thread, but totally agree with your decision. It can't hurt you, and it sounds like for the most part you've already taken the pictures that will be framed. If it's not costing you anything, why not? Good luck OP!

What? You want me to copy and paste the email in here?

They have a limited "budget" (if you'd call it that, and I think you would) for printing, framing, etc. In fact, I've just learned that the budget is coming from the nurses that use the exam rooms, not from the hospital itself. ie; the nurses, out of the goodness of their hearts, are paying to have some artwork on the walls of the exam rooms for the patients.

You still want to dissuade me? Keep trying, I've still got a little goodness in my heart.

"You still want to dissuade me? Keep trying"

I think most people have all these imaginary conversations going on in their heads.

The fact is I am all for you hanging millions of your photos all over the planet. I also make it a point to tell the starry eyed ones about reality. Unfortunately reality brings out the attack dogs who would rather live in the fantasy.

"What? You want me to copy and paste the email in here?"

Yeah why not. Blot out the names etc. Of course it could be faked as well.

I had surgery a while back. In the doctors office was a photo of a dog Fairly good but not great. I asked about it. The doc said a relative of a person working there donated it and others. (same scenario) Not comments about making any sales etc. It was a nice wall as opposed to a bare wall. That was all.

If you want to donate or what ever it is by all means do it. I'm sure there will be nice walls in the place when you are done. Not sure anyone will care about buying anything. OOPS there I go with reality again. Now I'm sure the attack dogs will emerge from every direction.

Be sure to hand out some small ones to those who donate also. Wish I could come help you. Nothing improves our way of life more than improving the quality of life of others.

Please keep me posted on your progress with this project!

Since I'm so late to the dance I will only say good for you. I see nothing wrong in doing something like this. Even if you aren't paid a dime it's a cool thing to do.

Good on you lyonsroar. And hey, if you do it as nothing more than a donation then you will gain a lot of self satisfaction, not to mention you are actually doing a nice thing. If you did it with the underlying expectation that you will be eventually rewarded through advertising or whatever then you are setting yourself up for disappointment. If you don't expect it and it happens then that's an awesome bonus.

Sobolik, I'm not going to bother replying to anything else you've posted because I couldn't possibly do a better job of pointing out your foolishness then you've already done for yourself.
