Insurance: What do you guys do?

In this day and age of "I tripped on your light stand and I'm suing!!!" I not only have insurance to cover the loss of my cameras, but I have a $1,000,000. liability policy as well. Well worth it. Total cost comes to about $450/year.

Your in Canada Drew, just include it in your home owners or renters insurance. If you don't have that, get it. It would be cheaper than getting a separate policy just for your gear.

The critical bit to understand with all this is your homeowners insurance will likely cover it UNLESS you are getting paid for what you do.

This is key. Even with a rider, your homeowners will not cover your equipment if you're using it for business. At least not in the U.S.

We also use Hill and Usher... They do our gear, liability, and E&O.
