Kathryn has been to the studio again (and will come some more if I want her too - er, yes!).

Had a couple of ideas in mind, and we did quite well at what we wanted.

It's so hard, yes. I am a teacher by day, and a "photographer" by night. I know what I would rather be doing full time, I can tell you!

It appears that the photographer knows what he is doing, and Kathryn certainly has the looks, but I think she could improve quite a lot if she would practice a few changes in expression. Pass this word along, and see what she comes up with.

I like them ....my one objection is the shot with the hands... She should clean her fingernails if she is going to show them up close. I would like to see some with shadows .... It grounds the subject. Nice job.

Her expression feels off in all of these. She's working at the pose, and at looking serious and maybe a little pouty, but she's not selling the pose all that well. I can't really define how she ought to be looking, but she's not really hitting it. She's fantastic in the less overtly sexual poses we've seen in the past, but this straight-up sex kitten thing seems to be bumping up against her current limits.

In #6 the little bit of coat you see between her thighs feels wrong. It's too small to be obvious what it is, so I had a moment of 'what?' there. It draws the attention to.. um.. that general area but not, I think, in a positive way. Either pull the coat off the shoulders and drop it down a bit to make it clearer what's going on, or use a shorter coat to eliminate that element, I'd suggest.

In #2 I actually like the pale background image better than the foreground copy of it. The primary image in these black outfit ones is reading too dark, to me (on my monitor, anyways) and the detail's lost and so on.

Otherwise, good outfits, good styling, she's beautiful and to my eye you're shooting her generously and well.

I feel you on this. She definitely has the sex appeal but could use some modeling skill. Here is a link to a shoot I did a while back. Check the poses the model did. She was really good and made it look natural. You always want natural and relaxed.

I agree, some variation in her expression would take these from 'Great' to 'Holy ****ing great!'. Other than that minor nit, these are outstanding; some of your best work we've seen!

#1,2,3 not working so well...

#4 with the new outfit has color, but it's still lackluster...

BOOM #5... once you cinched the belt and got the hourglass shape, and pulled the stockings for contrast and detail it popped to life.

While everyone loves lingerie, and #6 is hot, I still think #5 is the best shot from the session.

However you need to get some sort of expression out of the model. Bring her to face to life and you've got a winner.

I like these! #1 especially, thts my fav one outta this set.

I just feel like on some of these her "naughtyish" expression and poses don't flow with the white background and lighting you have going on, if I was gonna go with a white background and these I woulda had her be more bouncy/smiley/playful, but for these I think a more seductive background color n did something different with the lighting.

Thank you everyone. Even with the (completely valid) criticisms I feel that overall I am getting somewhere. To address a couple of the nits:
Yes, her expression is the same in all of these...it's not the same in all the shots I take, I just seem to like these for some reason...dunno why. But here;s a different expression for you:

As was pointed out, she went from completly shy amateur to quite hot in a few short weeks. In fact this was only the 3rd time she has posed for me, the first being where she paid me for some sexy shots for her fella in Afghanistan. She is working hard, but is still very much an amateur and learning as we go. I am an amateur in this too. But we look through shots on various sites, modelling sites etc., and pick what we can do.

Kathryn is picking the clothes based on my rather "man-like" descriptions of what I want her to try. But we are limited to her wardrobe, so until we get some cash injection we won't be buying specifically for this.

White BG - I did some on dark BG last time...I agree that she should be more jolly for the white BG, although some of the work I see with sexy shots is on white. from the pros, too.

I take it you like these, Derrel?

It's just time to learn to work the model. some girls are movers. some are posers. some are putty in your hand. some are actors. and some are shy / non expressive.

the trick is to learn to take a non expressive model and lead her to be one of the above for you. Get her dancing, moving, doing something. get her acting. making faces, acting out scenes. get her striking poses, and projecting something in her expression. septicism. i know secret. how dare you! huh? you better back up! c'mere. OUCH. any of those or more.

You'll get there... this is just the next step.
