Kind of Bummed

I was messing around with my D90 like usual and for the first time in a quite a while I put it in Auto mode just to see what happened.

Looked really good.

Put it in Program Auto mode, looked alright... then I tried manual - about the same.

Tried a subject other than the potpourri, my wonderful wife... same results.

Reality sucks!

Here I thought I was better than the camera, guess I have a lot to learn

Oh well, I still think I do sunrises/sunsets better dang it.

That's the simple reality. In straight-forward exposure situations, 'Auto' or 'Program' will turn out looking good 99.9% of the time. Once you're dealing with back-lighting, fill, a wider than normal dynamic range, that's when your knowledge and skill come in, and that's when you turn the dial to 'M'!
