Caught this one in breeding plumage.. I saw a shot like this a long time ago and I've been waiting to get my chance in the right light...Spot metering did the trick Lowered blacks and shadows in post.. Comments welcome

Ok folks here we have it,Kris is now shooting at 12.01 Am in pitch black can't see chit dark and pulls off a master piece.:hail: I cant't see the toilet at 12.01 am, I need a night light.

Nah it wasn't 12:01, but I did wake up at 5:24 which is not a normal time for me.. lol

That is a really cool shot Kris! It is deceiving because it would almost appear as though you flashed the bird to get proper exposure but, I'm confident you didn't.

Are you up and running yet with the Better Beamer flash combo?

Hai there! Where have you been hiding? Missed you all winter and now you are probably gearing up to get busy again. I just ordered the BB last night. This shot is all natural and spot metering on the bird!

Been hiding out on a job site. This winter never slowed for me. Even while we had not one but two "blizzards" (according to the media but seemed weak to me) I was working inside a heated building doing block work in a t-shirt. It was nice!

I have still been some what quietly snooping around on TPF I just haven't been taking much time to comment. I am excited to see what you do with the new glass that you are waiting for. The combo of the BB and the Tammy in your hands will probably be quite impressive. Im gonna watch your results closely cuz that will probably sway which way I go with my next purchase. I have really wanted to pick up a BB and am interested in the Tammy.

you know your lighting, that's for sure. Superb !! Extremely fine details and it stands out so well off that dark background. As we say here, you clever bugga

Excellent and yep, that would make a great large print for sure.
