my friend and i just wanted to know..

it looks like a typical mom with a camera photo.

The OP says the person who took the photo is a "photographer". So what is a photographer in this case? Someone with a camera?

I imagine to the baby's mother thinks the photo is great - any photo of their child is great. I assume all MWC's (Moms With Camera) clients think all her photos are great, so she must be a photographer.

Also says this person might as well be professional.. From the looks of this picture, I'm questioning that.

If your friend wants feedback on her photo why is she not posting it herself?
Because you took her username hahhahah.. jk.

 I picked my username because well I figured I might as well embrace it. I'm a Mum, I have a camera and I love to take pictures.

I won't give any feedback on this image because the photographer did not ask for any, but I will say if your "friend" is charging people for images (it doesn't matter the quality of the images, just the fact that money is changing hands) she should be legal in her state and paying taxes.

Abby's skin tone is hosed by the color of the slide reflecting up onto her. Using fill flash (and spot metering mode) would have not only corrected her severely under exposed face, but the flash of light would have also reveled her correct skin tone.

The composition is good, but the lighting is very bad.

I did an edit to try and illustrate what I talked about above, however the photo is so poorly exposed that there are limits to what could be done.

umm chick we are 15. and yes she did ask for feedback? thats the whole reason i did this is so she could see what she needed to improve on. she is sitting right here next to me. she wont have her internet to check her profile if she created one so i told her to just put it up on mine.

jeeze guys we are 15. i just put that in there cuz she is my bestfriend. and i thought she was good. we were asking for suggestions on how she could do better, not for peoploe to be rude.

I moved this thread to The Beginners' Gallery, as the forum where it came from ("Feedback and Suggestions") is meant for feedback on this site as a whole, and suggestions on how to make this entire site better. OK?

oh, sorry. :/ i didn't know. i'm new to the site.:)

I feel the overall lighting in the shot is bad. The baby's hair has taken on a greenish cast from the bright yellowgreen and blown out grass in the background, plus that grass line cuts right thru the top of the childs head. The childs skin also has a very red color cast and shadow from the slide she's sitting on. I agree with Schwettylens, it looks like a typical mom with a camera photo.

I agree

well thanks :) she'll fix the lighting next time.

Here's my little piece of advice to you, don't call someone who is old enough to be your mother "chick", it shows a lack of maturity and inability to accept criticism. My advice to your friend still stands, even if she is 15. If she grown up enough to start a business then she needs to do it correctly. She needs to have a business license and what ever other permits your state requires.

well you were being rude. and i asked about feedback on the PICTURE not on how to run a business! she doesnt even charge money so idk where you got that from. all of her photo shoots are FREE just like mine. i said she WANTED to start a business and become a professional when she grows up.

The fact that you thought she was being rude definitely displays the fact that you have the mentality of a 15 year old child.

she wants to be a professional when she gets older(even though she pretty much is one now)

As for the picture I do believe it does have harsh lighting problems. but it's something to work on. I'm still learning, reading, and trying to put it all into practice.

I dont think that was rude at all, she was offering you or your friend advice that you probably didn't know. Instead of being rude about it you should have thanked her. If your friend wants to be a professional when she "grows up" I hope she doesn't share your snotty attitude when others are trying to help.

Anyways the baby is under exposed, the background is over exposed. When I look at the picture my eyes are drawn to the bright yellow of the background and not the subject. I would try using a reflector next time on the baby and maybe take the photo from a different angle to avoid the bright background or try fixing it in Photoshop.
