Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Apparently my style doesnt work for everyone but I love to edit photos. I took this one in low light and wanted the grainy look. Sorry if its not popular with the crowd. But then Ive always kinda done my own thing....

Well, I'm not really sure what kind of response you're looking for. Seems like you're not really looking for advice on how to improve since you're just going to defend any constructive criticism by saying it was intentional and you like it that way.

So... congratulations on doing it your way?

cool.

I dont mind the c&c at all. Like I said in my earlier post, I am no professional. Im just saying that I like it. Am I allowed to like it even though others may not?

You are allowed to like it even if other people don't but from the other post it seemed like you asked for C+C, got it and defended everything that had been mentioned as it being the way you liked it so you weren't going to change it.
It's difficult to offer C+C with the end result being that it will be taken as an attack on your photo rather than helpful hints and tips to improve.

In regards to this picture I'll say that I like the colour cast but that the kids are out of focus (more so the one on the left). Also the white shirt from the boy on the right is blown out and overexposed in places.
If you made a selection of the shirt and the quilt (I assume) at the bottom of the photo you could change the exposure selectively on those bits.

THanks. I dont set up what I take. I see it. I take it. Maybe I should set up some and then see where Im at. These were just in the moment shots. Im not trying to defend it. Im just saying. I dont mean for it come across as I dont want the c&c. I do. I guess I should only put the shots up that were posed and not the candid ones.

Alot of these, Im still learning the settings. I have a basic idea of what Im doing and thats it. Ive left so much up to the natural light outside so these inside shots are hard for me. What settings should I try for low light, like a bedroom shot like this?

Candid shots are fine - I only post photos I like on my Flickr and there are several candid shots on there.

The same basic rules of photography will apply to all shots - whether they're posed or candid.
Focus, lighting, exposure etc - if you set one up and took it the chances are that your C+C would be the same, focus, over/underexposure, over-processed, could benefit from some processing etc - there will always be advice, comments, criticism for any shot, candid or posed.

Looking around the board there seems to be collectively decades of experience - I'd rather tap into that experience and grow as a photographer.

Remember your exposure triangle - Aperure - Shutter speed - ISO
If it's low light and you have a lot to get in focus then you can't set your aperture too low. As you're taking pictures of people the ISO would be the natural way to go - increase that to it's acceptable highest setting. Then lower the shutter speed down to 1/60 or a bit lower if you're taking photos of someone who is willing to stay still for you.

Use the exposure triangle and jiggle them around to get the best exposure possible, camera mounted flashguns with swivel heads allow you to direct light but even a pop-up flash will do for fill-in lighting.
