A portrait I took last night of one of my housemates, while testing out a photo set that I built made out of three giant insulation foam boards as walls with reflective mylar taped to them.

Shot using the original Canon 5D with a Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens attached set to f/11, 1/160th sec, ISO 100. Lit using two Neewer C300 flash units with color gels.

Nice! He was wearing the perfect shirt for this!

Awesome effect and good imagination looks like sci-fi or a disco, pretty broad range :)

Thanks for showing your set up. As I mentioned in the other thread will definitely be stealing this idea.

Love the creativity you get when you collaborate with your housemates. I recently watched an episode of Good Trouble which is about a bunch of diverse young people cohabitating in a LA loft space and it made me think of you and your house full of creative people.

An excellent image.
Good use of materials to get an effect that most wouldn't have though about.
Thank you! It's honestly not the exact effect that was anticipated, but that's why it was an experiment and I'm so happy with the results even if it wasn't quite what was exprected.

Thank you so much. I'm very lucky yo be around so many talented and inspiring artists like this. That being said, our entire community is being threatened by the corona pandemic and as such this experience might be coming to an end for us soon. Much of the industry is coming to a halt, including my own work, meaning that many members are unable to pay their membership dues, in turn making it so the company that houses us might cease to exist.

This fricking corona virus scare...so overblown by the media...18,000 deaths from the flu last year in the USA....39 so far in the USA dead from covid-19.... and already all kinds of draconian restrictions on gatherings of more than 50 to 250 in the states of Oregon and Washington, closings of restaurants and bars in several States, school closures, social isolation, Sports League closures, Etc..

That really stinks. My nephew is out in CA (Ocean Side) and just lost his job when they shut down the casino where he works. He’s going to deliver door dash or something similar to try to get by. My brother and sister in law here in MA both work in the food service industry and will be out of work for a few weeks if not longer. Fortunately for them I am their landlord so they will be ok. It looks like we could be in the **** for a while.

I hope you and your housemates are able to support each other and get through this. The arts are really going to take a hit, first with social distancing and then with the inevitable recession.

I'm definitely having a hard time staying optimistic. The work just isn't happening for anyone here and it's looking bad. At least I can get caught up on edits while we wait to see what happens.

You should make a tutorial on your Portrait Lighting and skin processing techniques. I would pay for that! #supportthearts

Your latest shot shows just how exciting and different this technique is. I think quite highly of it. This is exciting and new. I am pretty confident in you, that if you work at this for a month or two, you will be producing some exciting and truly Innovative work that is unlike that being produced by any other photographer in California.
