Nikon vs. Canon: Opinions Please

I purchased a Nikon D3000 last year and loved it. However, recently, I have been using a friends Canon EOS 7D and have fallen in love yet again. I am planning to purchase a new DSLR, but would like other opinions on Nikon vs. Canon. I would like to have a full frame, but that is out of my budget. However, I am thinking a Canon EOS 7D or comparable Nikon would right down my alley. What do you think? :thumbdown: or :thumbup:

this is an age old argument with no end in sight.
go to a photography store, play with a bunch of them, and buy the one in your budget that you like the most.
if its a real photography store, they should be able to tell you the differences, and which nikons are comparable to which canons.
otherwise, narrow it down to a few and look up some reviews online. noone can pick your camera for you...except you.

If you handled a comparable Nikon, you would love that too! The mid-range to higher end bodies are phenomenal, compared to the lower end, entry level units... which is why they cost more. Like Pix said... go to store, handle some bodies and see what you like. If you have any decent Nikon stuff.. stick with Nikon. If not, make a choice! They are both great systems!

Not even going to join in the debate.
If you have lenses already and want to stay nikon look at the D7000
If you can use friends lenses and aren't invested in Nikon go for the 7D.
Both are awesome. The end.

for the most part, people that shoot Canon love their Canons, and people that shoot Nikon love their Nikons. you cant go "wrong" getting either system. Since you already have a D3000 however, unless you are planning on selling it, it makes a LITTLE sense to get a Nikon and use the D3000 as a backup. if you are selling the D3000, its a crapshoot.

They are pretty much neck and neck until about 10-15k then Leica and Hasselblad pick up the lead. Both companies are top notch, it's just a matter of the ergonomics. Though, don't go comparing entry level bodies with mid-level or high end bodies; bad idea, for your wallet anyway.

Search for "Nikon vs Canon" and you'll see why this discussion is pointless. Both are the right choice and none is the wrong one. The 7D is a great camera that had the chance to play with several times, since one of my bests friends owns one... And, on the other hand, I have a D7000 which is sometimes pointed as the direct competitor. Can't really say which is better, and basically it only depends on your needs, likes and dislikes. Try to go to a camera store and see which one feels better in your hands. And take a look at the pros and cons of each:
