What's new

not a owl

Look, I'm not trying to give you a hard time - it's just that I really wish you would do what's truly best thing for this bird. Not for you so you don't get crap from your wife; not for your wife and her 'woman thinking' (still rolling my eyes HARD at that) or your kids and their feelings. The best for the bird. If you truly don't care, then please just kill the bird as quickly as possible or bring it to a rehab center as soon as possible. If they can't save the bird, at least it will be more comfortable in the care of people who know how to treat it.

What more? Bring it to someone who knows how to take care of the bird properly so that person can make the informed decision about a) whether or not the bird even has a chance, b) how to nurse it back to health if it does have a chance, and c) when to reasonably expect it to just fly away on its own. How much effort does it take to make a few calls, find a rehab center none but doesn't do much good when they don't call you backand drive the bird over umm. you realize how far away these place are from me right. Flat out NO.? Hell, there was even a link posted in coastalconn's thread just a few days ago where you could find a local rehab center. I just don't see the point of trying to save the bird - for whatever reason - and then throwing it into the air, possibly injuring it further, and then just leaving it alone in a cage. Either kill it quickly or or try to keep it alive, and if you're not qualified to take care of it properly yourself, bring the bird to someone who can.

In fact...here, found it for you: List of Wildlife Rehabilitators

That took me all of 2 minutes. It's even bookmarked for the listings in Maine.
you haven't been reading this thread have you. Go back and read the first line I typed in post 24 again.

Fine. Kill the bird slowly then. I'm done reading this thread.

cheer up. Even if it dies least it had a chance for a last meal (worm). someone will probably call me back tomorrow. wait and see. who knows maybe it will get better resting a couple days.

And enough of your "women thinking" crap. If you're wife thinks that way, then it's your wife's thinking. Don't assume all women are going to think that way.
I don't believe all do just figure the greater majority.

edit: nevermind. its dead. looked over one minute, looked like it was drinking water from the water dish. you know, head pecking the water. looked back over, its beak was under the water and it wasn't moving.
looks like it drowned itself drinking water.
odd. strange bird. Maybe it was just old.
through it out back where I don't think the dog will get it. Last thing I need is the dog running up with it and the kids seeing it. lol

OMG! I hate you!
I know you don't care because you're heartless... and... I don't remember the last time when I used that word, but it feels nice, liberating..
I hate you! Hate you!

So be it, but sometime it's the only thing to do.

I'm very sorry for reading this thread... It's just me...

I'm oversensitive when it comes to animals, and even though I rationally agree with you, I can't agree on it emotionally and couldn't be a part of that scenario.

The time when I realized what's human thing to do... My hb's cousin had a dog. The dog went blind. He decided to kill it and went in a woods with it. When he returned, he told us that he couldn't kill the dog and instead of killing he let the dog alone in woods. My hb went mad, and I didn't understand why is he mad, until he explained what is going to happen with the helpless dog in the woods with wild animals... Of course, I cried. I hate the guy!

And I don't hate you... just saying....

just read the post before mine. :( for the bird and :( for op, you just don't have it in your system...

you're joking like this...

as I said, it's up to me. can't lol on that scene and you can...

I was kind of like this with my first wife, many years ago. I did not know how to deal with anything "emotional", much less to know my feelings and understand them. At all. So, I would pull the 'ole macho-man stuff, act tough, mainly......... just be a jerk. All these many years later, I can see why she left me. I was a douche bag! Not that this is implying anything at all or is comparing anyone, it's just what I felt after reading this thread. My love for animals "and" humans has come quite a long way from when I was 23.

OP.......... there are more discreet ways of dealing with the unpleasantness in life we sometimes have to carry out. Could you not see that your actions were upsetting some members here? When in Rome................. try to minimize the pain and torture for those who don't want to hear it. Yes, it needed to be done, probably, but it didn't need to be made a public spectacle of!

I grew up around animals and this was just a part of being an animal's owner/caretaker. I never said it was easy to take a life but sometimes it's best.

I am glad you no longer hate me. ;)

Not for you so you don't get crap from your wife; not for your wife and her 'woman thinking' (still rolling my eyes HARD at that)

Now now, calm down we don't want your woman brain getting all fuzzy with emotions!

Let the men deal with it. Our brains are much larger and therefore able to deal with such big issues.

;)

tell the kids that you let the bird out of the cage and it flew off in great condition.

For the record, I don't agree with lying to kids. How old are they? If under 5, then maybe a little white lie to avoid further trauma, but if 5 or older, I think they're going to know you're lying.
