Portrait of my God Daughter for CandC

I took this picture of my God Daughter at her confirmation. I wanted to try some different method of processing on this. Thoughts,, is this working with this photo?

Well, she is drop dead gorgeous. As for the processing, I dunno, I don't really care for the tone/monotone. Was it just low-light or did you create the effect? Face and skin look good to me and the eye lashes are wonderful.

Absolutely gorgeous - which has already been said. I'm not sure how I feel about the processing. It's not bad but I almost feel like it doesn't fit the mood exactly. Probably not much help - sorry!

Thanks for feedback. I was trying something new to me with processing. I have been working on cross processed photos and keep trying to figure out where its place is. I actually don't mind it here...

Pretty decent pic. You could have panned a bit lower to get rid of some of the dead space above her head but its not too bad this way. And I agree with the others that she is very pretty.

The bright object behind her head seems to throw off the light in her pretty face, so I'd try to tone that down a bit. Also, I think her bust is competing with her face for attention, so I'd crop that and the aforementioned dead space over her head. Here's an example:

She is very pretty and I think your final image is better than your original processed. I didn't like the haze associated with the original. I also feel like this photo is a little bit orange but don't take my word on that, I am at work and this monitor can be tricky

I like the final processed one best as well, but I really dislike the bright object growing out of the top of her head. I'd have to rework the background to deal with it, if it were mine.

Thanks for the feedback. I like the way she looks in the photo but yes that bright object I agree does not have the best placement in the frame. It was a statue of Jesus and her parents wanted me to take a picture of her in front of it. I was using my 50mm and I could not get it all in with the space behind me and rather than moving her to another location, I neglected to think about that at the time and took the shot. These are things I need to remember about portraits and when shooting in situations like this.


Its funny how parents always want there kids in front of big and huge statues. I am fell into this as well trying to get an extreme angled shot but what we really want is a nice close up portrait of our kids.

Once again thanks for your feedback and edits it will help me moving forward.
