Haha its true, I know some guys that look really feminine, beautiful eyes etc, and some girls I know are a little more masculine than most!

It's a start for sure, but there's definitely room for improvement. Not sure what you used for a light & modifier, but I'd suggest something larger. For this sort of shot, I really, really, REALLY like my 30" Lastolite Ezybox! I would also suggest dropping your key by 1/3 - 1/2 stop

As far as the lighting goes, John has the suggestions I was going to render. Dropping the key light a bit is, well, key. ;-)

Raven, it's an interesting picture and a nice face. Part of me wants to agree with the criticisms and suggestions in this thread. The other part of me wonders, if this photo had been taken by an established pro, would people instead be commenting on how you did something bold and different and how you broke the rules? I don't know.

The first thing I noticed, was that you pretty much have 'butterfly' lighting here...which most certainly is a feminine lighting pattern. The pose & expression could probably have been better, but it's a self portrait...and those aren't so easy to do.

Thank you, I hate being that side of the camera, but I was the most willing model at the time (the only one)
