Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Well I have finally decided to share some pictures I took of the city where I currently live. They are a few years old and with a crappy camera so I hope you folks won't mind. Stockholm is a quite nice city especially during the summer but in my opinion it's not a city I want to live in because of the boring people and crappy food but as a tourist I am sure everyone would fall in love with this city.

I also have a few photos of the city taken on a weekend morning so you can see the huge difference between the busy streets during the day and the deserted empty streets on an early weekend morning but I think it would be more appropriate to post them on a different thread. I will post a link here once I have time and will to post them.

oh darn! I guess I should have shrunk the pictures before posting but oh well I am too lazy to repost all of them now so I hope some of you guys who are using smaller monitors like me don't mind. I will try to shrink them the next time I post any pictures.

Oh man, that makes me miss Sweden so much. Though i only recognize half of those places... I forgot how clean the streets and alleys are there. I can't wait till i get to go back.

oh you are from Sweden? where do you live now? well its kinda ironic I mean I have been wanting to get out of this country since I was a teenager while you really miss it but as I said most of stuff here are nice like the clean streets and alleys (not so clean on a weekend morning though) but the people here are so boring or maybe its just me :-)

very funny, i actually consider moving to Sweden ;)

Well, everyone is different I suppose ;)

No, i was born and raised in Seattle. But most of my family on the maternal side is from Sweden. I lived there when i was about 16 or so for 4 weeks.

ah I see. well four weeks is like nothing if you stay longer you may would find the bad sides of this city and how rude and boring the people here are.
Of all the cities I have been to here in Sweden I would say Gothenburg and Örebro are two of the nicest.

I have decided to post these weekend morning pictures in this thread so it would be easier for you guys to compare the differences and I have taken some time to shrink the pictures  I think they were taken sometime around 5am on a Sunday morning a few years ago.

I plan on falling in love with the city from 14 to 18 August of this year, which will be when I first go there, and only as a tourist, so nothing is in the way of my falling in love. I wish for THIS KIND OF WEATHER when I'm there, so I can copy all these photos of yours :greenpbl:

#6, #12, #13 are my favorites. I reallly would like to visit Stockholm.
Great set.

I hope you will enjoy your visit and I guess four days is short enough to just fall in love with this city ^^ and I am looking forward to see the photos you will take that is if you will post them on here
oh and you are smart enough to come here in August since the weather is usually the best during that month.

I am planning on post pictures of other cities I have visited and will visit around the world in the future. Its just too bad that I was stupid enough not to bring a camera often enough in the past :(

and I just made a new thread with photos I took when I visited Shanghai a few years ago and here is the link:

Man, what a clean city. Living in California (LA) I instantly appreciate "old" stuff, as there isn't much really old here ... like cobblestone streets and old buildings with elaborate facades.

So where would you like to live? Baghdad is pretty interesting of late...

You can not just judge a city by its beautiful buildings and clean streets and alleys its really the people living there that make it great, or not... I may not like the people here but that doesn't mean that I dislike the city it self :p
I wouldn't mind living in California or any other places as long as the local population have some kind of humor and less xenophobic.

I would like to hear more criticism about my photos, like what I could do to make them look better or if there's other settings or angles I should have tried out for those shots. any advice would be appreciated :)

California has something for everybody. People aren't openly friendly ... but not rude either. If you extend a warm greeting to them .. they will respond in kind. If you are after fusion, a mixture of many many many cultures (more than 120 different languages are spoken in the LA Unified School District), then come to California. If you are after great weather with incredible geology and biology ... then come to California. If you're after crowded streets, polluted air, earthquakes and fires ... then come to California.

IN my experience, a city is only as boring as you make it :)

I guess you are right, and still: some cities have a certain atmosphere, and some are just ugly and boring. I happened to be in one in the course of this week that was the latter - I tried to bring out the beauty in where there is only ugliness in photos but am not sure I could...

As to your photos here, Hobbes: they are straightforward, taken in nice weather, and show street scenes. You framed what you saw, how you saw it. Which is a nice illustration. Most of my photos are like these. I believe more gripping photos can be produced, but I'm afraid I'm not talented enough for that myself. So I cannot give you any advice.

Well you know California does sound like a nice place to live especially for someone who love multicultural societies and like to try out new stuff. LA and San Francisco are two of the cities on my want-to-visit list :D

And thanks LaFoto for the advice. I am really a newbie when it comes to photography and I am in bad need of a better camera than my HP photosmart 945 but I am willing to learn and maybe one day I will take a photography course
