T4 what?!

Alright guys and gals so I got my T4 today and therefore I am now in possibly one of the best moods I ever been in.
So I checked it out and I will be running into around $1300. So I was thinking of adding $50 to it and possibly getting a used nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRI or upgrading my body to a D90 or a D7k.
Kind of in a dilemma so any input would be nice.
Some background:
I will be going to europe in May and photographing my younger brothers football game, and also his football in September, now since it's under the lights i'll need the faster lens but my D40x won't be able to offer me the ISO I need. Dilemma? Yes!
So i'll also be working full time from June-Sept. So i'll have some time to save still.
Any input?

Save a little more, get a used 80-200 f2.8 and a D7K.

Even with a used 80-200, will I still be able to get as clear of shots as i would with a 70-200 VR?
