What's new

WAY off topic, then trying to pull it back!

Congrats on the new development! I wish the absolute best for you and your wife!

I feel ya! My wife and I are unable to have children of our own and went the adoption route. Ran into all the regulations and whatnot when looking international and had a private adoption from within the U.S. fall into our laps. The whole journey has been a roller coaster of emotions but, now, with our little princess entering kindergarten, losing teeth, and finding her attitude, we wouldn't change it for the world! Best of luck, vibes, and prayers to you and your wife as you move into this time of your life!

Wow - so happy for you! That's amazing!!! It's a weird, strange, complicated process isn't it! But SO glad everything has turned out perfect for you guys!!

Sorry for your losses and can't even imagine how hard that is or has been.I almost lost my first born son when he was deprived from oxygen when he was not breathing after birth and turned completely blue. The Docs worked quickly and quietly and not a word to me or my wife, until we herd the first cries. They saved our babies life just in time and probably mine to.I broke down in tears and literally was shaking. After all that, I thought instead of David Jr it became Justin as in Just in time and the wife agreed.Best of luck to you and the wife,You guys sound like Awesome people.

Holy moly that's scary!! We were at a support group and that happened to another couple - but without the amazing doctors and luck that you had - and OMG I could never imagine something like that - hearing it from a mother first hand was intense. I am so glad everything has worked out for you - and the name is a perfect fit! :D

Little stories like this make my day so much better. Tales of happiness and stories of success.

OK. I'm done being soppy :P

Wow, bright one, you've got quite a bit going on in your life. Best of luck and love to you and your wife on your journey toward parenthood. Your child will be fortunate to have such a mom and dad. As for your questions:
Probably the contract was for very small money, $400 for the day if I recall and I had to pay my assistant with that. It was to photograph President Reagan on his visit to NJ in 1986 I think. It opened a lot of doors. Soon after I did the pre inaugural portrait of Governor Florio and his wife. Second question two of my businesses raise money for a group of people, probably another thread more appropriate. Again, the best to you and your wife.

Only routine contracts here, too - though they are still intimidating until you get used to the idea: home and marriage. Nothing like what you're preparing to do! Best of luck to you and your wife!! :)

My biggest contract to date is to "get out of a contract". I had a damn comfortable job that paid a lot, had the opportunity to fly me around the world on business class(and get bumped to first when available). Since I was in a corporation, being attached to a project team means no matter what, you will succeed so high-fives are guaranteed. I was also living on my own, shared a comfortable apartment with a room mate, no one telling me what to do and had few responsibilities to answer to. I had lots of vacation days to use, lot's of disposable income with pretty much no worry except frustrations from poor leadership at work.

Then I decided to turn it all away. I quit the job, left the country and pretty much lost the creature comfort aspects of my past life style. No more car( I am a car guy). No more independent living. Has to build a new life and new friends at the age of 30. Why, because I believe that this is what it will take to get to my ideal career and lifestyle.

I now make only about 1/4 of what I used to, 2.5 hrs of commute everyday working as a teacher in a college. The students suck(some of you may have heard my rants), tons of admin work and endless work that I personally would have tried to avoid. It's still a long way from my goal, but I feel that this is a part of the process.

Helping someone lately? I can't really think of anything that constitutes as "help". Just trying not to be in anyone's way.
