What's new

What do i want for christmas?..

I will say this, I have the 55-250 and I don't find myself using it all that often. I normally shoot things that are stationary and close by, although at the Zoo I could see it having its uses...

Leave the lens use up to the photog.
My 100-400mm tends to be my walk around lens. :-P

The 50mm 1.8, worst $100 ever spent. Used it twice. :lmao:

My point is, how lenses are used is personal. You might not use the lenses I have for the same purpose.

I do think, if the OP can get someone to drop some coin for some gear, and all he has right now is the 18-55mm that the 55-250mm will give him a great range for learnin' and 'sperimentin'.

All of my posts are IME.

If given a choice between the 55-250mm and the 50mm I'll take the 50mm any day, but that's IME.

I think the 50mm helped me grow more as a photog.
But once again, IME.

I understand Lyon, but sometime you have to be more objective.
For someone new to photography, I see those two, inexpensive lenses, as being important. That focal length coverage will allow any beginner a great range to discover, and grow. As they learn what the really are attracted to shooting, and as they learn some draw backs, when they go to get better glass, they have an idea of which direction to go.

Also.. will i be able to use the 55-250 just when i want to take some shots from close up? Like cause its not like im not, not going to take pictures from a close range, i just would see myself getting more pictures from a distance?
So yeahh will the 55-250 also be acceptable for shots not from a distance?
Thanks
And sorry for all the questions, lol

Tell your mother to buy you a new COAT, for your hikes!!!!

Haha, i already have lots of nice camping/ hiking clothes that can keep me warm : ) I go to an expeditionary learning school, so in october we went camping, so i got all good nice and warm clothes/ hiking boots/ etc. : )

Yes. The lens has a minimum focus distance of like 3 feet, if I remember correctly. Which means you can't focus on anything closer than that. Google the lens and get it's specifics.

The zoom makes things far away appear closer.

If I understood your question, correctly.

Check out the Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OS. Around $330 on Amazon. Great lens for everyday/casual use at a reasonable price.
