The compositions are interesting, however my nickel (or maybe cent) of advice/opinion would be that you are using a bit too much contrast and your dark areas don't have very much detail because of it. Even if your attempt is to use a lot of shadow, especially in facial features, there should be enough light to pick out faint features.
