I shed a few tears over this. A few days ago we streamed an episode of Star Talk, hosted by another hero of mine, Neil deGrasse Tyson, who interviewed him. He has led an extraordinary life, and the planet is better for him having been on it. We need our scientists, our thinkers, and he was a total rock star.

A real loss.

He has now proved the existence of black holes. His passing created a (symbolic) one right here on our tiny little planet.
