Experimenting with maternity shoots, what do you think?

To be honest, not really a fan. The image is very dark, cropped very tightly, and the sepia-like tone seems out of place for this sort of image. I think if you'd shot from the other (light) side and opened up your framing, this would have been much stronger.

I like the crop but I agree with the other comments above.

Sorry all I can see is the huge logo!

i went from the other side too but really liked how the focus light was on the belly and siblings little hands. Unfortunately my cropping was a bit too far in, but I really wouldn't have taken it out too much more either.

I think it would be stronger if it weren't quite so tight and the post processing were different. I do like the idea though.

cute

I think I remember others commenting about your watermark previously. While you've taken away the brightly colored banner of flags, you've made the backing darker/more opaque. It is still very dominating and the first thing my eye is drawn to in your images. I would suggest getting rid of the backing and leaving it as only the writing, and then keeping it as just the business name. The business plus your personal name seems to be quite a bit. (Making a shorter abbreviation/logo would be another route).

Remember that this is a public forum so critique and comments come in all forms. You can't just come to get your ego stroked. You have to take the critique graciously or it will stop coming in altogether.

Compositionally, it is unconventional, but very interesting. I like the repetitions, like belly and child's head. Both are "incomplete" forms, which to me reflects the still growing form within her. Also the repetition of the hands as well as the mother's naval and the child's ear. They all flow down a diagonal axis, until you reach the child's ear, which redirects you back to the naval and the main subject which is an unseen form. So compositionally, this is quite strong, IMO.

I get that, I really do. Just still getting the hang of a forum and the fact that every single post I've been on (whether I posted it or was reading someone else's) has gone off topic and personal in all of 5 min each and every post. It's irritating and not very encouraging.

I hear ya...but the only thing that is more irritating is seeing a thread full of posts that are intentionally polite..even when the image is mediocre. Personally....I like living in fear of my peers criticism. It makes me more careful about which images I post...makes me see my images from a broader perspective. Important stuff. You know what's even more encouraging than 10 people saying.."nice" or "cute"..? ... getting REAL compliments from better/different style photographers!! I don't see anything harsh in this thread, specifically. Your logo is pretty darn in-your-face.....nobody's trying to be rude...just the way it is. Nice shot though...good feeling mama image;)
