Donating! continuous studio lighting w/umbrellas and bulbs

I didn't get a chance to post list night, it got late and I was really shot.

Here you go.
Lighting was just living room lights, nothing else.

I know my DOF is way off on Harvey (the dog) but he was walking past as I was taking the photos, so I grabbed him and didn't bother changing the camera.

I don't have many (hardly any) portraits. I was able to dig these up.

1. The control. Shot in class with the instructor's equipment. IIRC, a strobe with a big softbox to camera right, ambient light from a window to the right and above Kim.

2. Just a snap, but one that I think could have been more formal. Sunlight through a glass door behind the camera. I don't think I used flash, but if I did it would have been on camera, maybe bounced off white ceiling.

3. So many things wrong with this but as to the lighting - I either used the ceiling mounted fluorescent lamps or on camera flash, bounced up.

As to how to use lighting to improve these, I think flexibility in the the location and type of light (meaning hard, soft, bounced). I'd try to eliminate the general flatness in #2 and the forehead highlights in #3.

it was a tough choice between active members, and it only makes me wish we had more equipment to go around.
