Engagement Shoot! C&C

I appreciate all of your help. This was the first time I really had a chance to play with remote flash and people. I have noticed that my shots do come out dark. I need to get used to my D50 and the way the screen looks compared to when they are on the computer.

;) photoshop or lightroom if you shooting raw...

nice shots BTW

I'd want to see less sky and more water in #1, and for it to not be so dark.

I agree with the comment about the hotel being a huge focus in #2, but otherwise it's good.

#3 I like overall except that the girl's hair is covering up all of her face.

Expose for your ambient light, then use flash to expose your subjects. As your ambient light goes down you can adjust with your aperture. shoot as your cameras max sync speed for your flash

I need to get a flash. What kind should I get. I dont want to get any nikon sb flashes they are too much. the flash i have now has one setting and dosnt tilt, so i have to make due with it by moving it around.

If you don't need TTL, you could get a yongnuo flash - cheap and I have the 468, works perfectly!

all i really want is a flash with zoom and can tilt the head, also full control over flash settings. I know nothing about flashes but i will look into the yongnuo one. Also i dont need ttl

I need to look into messing with flash gels and such

I actually tried to recrop some of these to see if I could find a way I liked it and I really couldn't. I missed their feet in every one or cut off some other limb. :( Otherwise I would brighten them up, bump the contrast some, and maybe boost the saturation just a tad to make them pop. :)

Here's an edit i did for the first..would be easier working with a raw file.

i second this...what you get for the price of these flashes is amazing. they won't do ttl. but they have full manual controls, tilt and swivel head, and i believe can be set to master and slave flashes. If you search ebay I think you can pick them up for like 60 bucks or so. 80 on amazon if i remember right.
