Hey guys. So this is the condensed version of my pictures to the zoo. These are what I thought are the best pictures. Please be blunt about their imperfections which are many. I am brand new and all criticism is greatly appreciated. All but #3 got no PP and it only had its color both boosted and faded to level 6 in iphoto. Thanks for all of your help!

C&C per req:

Please note that I have made the assumption that you're shooting in a venue where you have 'take what you can get' as far as opportunity goes, but I have made comments regarding that anyway just for your own consideration.

1. An interesting image, but unfortunately too much image and too little snake. You've got him nicely focused, but it would make for a much stronger image if you could see more of his "face".

2. Again, a tighter crop on the subject would be beneficial. It's an interesting and unusal looking animal, and I'm not really sure that the monochrome conversion is the best treatment. With people and animals, always try and get to their eye-level if at all possible.

3. Insect pr0n? This looks like it has been washed out by a flash.

4. A much better rendition of #3, and I think perhaps the strongest of your four images, but some more DoF would have made it even better. The head/eye area seems sharp, but the extremities seem soft.

Overall, they're some nice images. The one overall issue I see is in your composition; 2, 3, and 4 are all centered subjects. Very often having your subject offset from the center makes for a visually appealing image. Google "Rule of thirds" and "Golden mean" for more information.

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

1) I think it could stand to brighten it up a bit.
2) I really like it but I think adding some sharpening or clarity would defiantly help.
3) eww
4) eww

But #2 is my fav because of the stash :)

Any advice on taking pictures through glass?
