Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
so my little sister is on island and i finally was able to take pictures of someone else other than my son, husband, and dogs. lol. I took these with a nikon d700, 24-120mm, and sb900 flash. security kicked me out of the first location (said i couldn't park my moped on the sidewalk) so we moved over to a graffiti wall. What do you guys think??? this was my first so i appreciate all feedback!

Love the moped and some of the composition arraignment in a few of them. I would post the settings of each photo so others have a better idea. (also might want to post fewer photos per thread so you can get better critique/comments).

Also to me it seems that is a little to much white in the picture, the moped, sky, hat and pants. Also the pictures overall seem a little bright, overexposed maybe? Thanks for posting. :)

The bad: blown out highlingts, over contrasted and in some skin tones are too wamr.
The Good: general environment/atmosphere, natural smile, composition. In #11 you cut her arm out :gun::spank:

I have to tell you, the fact that you have a D700 and that you are a beginner, pisses me off to no end, that is a professional camera that you are clearly not taking full advantage of.

This is your idea of C&C? I hope that was some sort of attempt at humor that I didn't get

Well, it's something he can grow into. I don't see any problem with this. And I really doubt 99% of photographers take full advantage of their bodies.

The pictures are all good but each one of them has something that hurts it. Most of it is because you cut off body parts or pieces of things that should have been in the shot.

And an aside, when I was a kid, girls that age did not have breasts. What the hell are they feeding kids nowadays that high school football players are benching 300+ lbs and 12 year old girls are sporting full grown breasts?

The photos in general are good. However, I think most should have a quieter background. Its too distracting. But otherwise, a good selection.

I have to tell you, the fact that you have no idea how to give C&C and that you are a beginner, pisses me off to no end, that is a pretty easy thing to do, and you are clearly not helping anyone by posting such things.

With that being said...

To the OP:

I like the color definition and the scenery. There are a few blown out spots here and there, but there's always something to work on.

In terms of composition photos 3, 5, & 6 stand out in my mind. Keep it up.

OH and just my 2 cents...which is worth less than others' here haha

I LOVE the composition on #9

#10 seems to capture her natural color the best, but you may have lost the sky a bit

#11 really has great emotion, just wish you got her hand and a bit more of the bike on the left side.

Great scenery though, wish I was there! Where is it?

#1 I think its SHE - JackieClayton
#2 Depending on your definition of full advantage :D some will feel comfortable shooting in P and to them its a full advantage of what they can do, other can afford 3-4 speedlites and rock d700 with cls in iso3000 :D

Welcome to the land of giants ;)

i have to tell you....

the D700 was a birthday gift from my husband this year... he was off island in Hawaii visiting his brother (who just so happens to be a public affairs specialist in the US Coast Guard and knows a thing or two on photography and equipment) and since the CG uses Nikons (and i liked using my D40) his brother was able to point my husband to the 700. Needless to say I was SHOCKED when he gave it to me... DH isnt really into photography but when he goes out to research cameras and then purchases a $2500 pro DSLR to surprise his wife who really enjoys and wants to learn the art, you don't exactly turn it down...

ya, i know i'm not using it to it's full advantage but it's nice to know that i'm learning on the best! ;) next time critique my photos like i kindly requested and keep your obviously jealous comments to yourself! thanks!

lol, i told you i use that contrast tool too much... its a bad habit i need to break!

oh no, her hand! lol, i didn't even crop that photo... i must not have gotten it in the frame. thanks for noticing that, i'll be on the lookout for stuff like that next time!

For what it's worth, i don't have photoshop yet... i only used the quick photo retouching that comes on my iphoto software for these photos, so i'm pretty limited. :( i had PS elements on my laptop and used it frequently but i don't have that computer anymore... i'd like to purchase PS again and install it on my desktop and use that instead... haven't gotten there yet! lol!

Question for everyone though, how can i adjust the skintone on the camera settings to limit the amount of post processing? It was sunny in the morning but by the time we moved over to the graffiti wall it was overcast and rainy... gotta the love the ever-changing island weather :er:

ok, as weird as it feels because you're totally referring to my little sis and that's probably the LAST thing i ever thought someone would comment on when i posted these pics... (kinda feeling uneasy b/c i picked out her outfit and thought she looked really cute... i didn't think that would stand out like that... now i'm wishing i would have dressed her in something else.... :pale:)

.... I do COMPLETELY agree with you about the development of teenagers nowadays... its INSANE! i actually think she's quite underdeveloped compared to the girls i've seen her age... just watch MTV and there are 18 year olds that look like they are 30!!! My husband and I think it's something to do with the hormones in chicken... lol! we've decided to let our son James be a vegetarian, that way he doesn't have facial hair in 2nd grade...
