I seem to attract lots of little creatures when I'm sitting outside doing the NY Times Crossword. I've posted a few shots of these visitors before. Yesterday I had this one drop in. The background is a textured aluminum table top, not the surface of Titan. iPhone7+.

This hummingbird came along and looked different from the Black-chinned that are usually around.

Nice light on the bird. I've found them to be extraordinarily difficult to capture in flight.

Thank you. At a certain hour, the rising sun casts light through the trees and can back light the feeder. Now that I'm retired I have a better chance of being there for it!

I rented this enormous lens, with a 1.4x teleconverter and did I think of trying for a shot of the moon?
No, of course not.
Until I happened upon the moon themed thread here at The Photo Forum and then the light bulb over my cartoon head lit up.
I googled for when the moon would rise and in which direction of the sky. But clouds, alas.
Then the clouds moved on!

So, I was sitting here this evening trying to decide what to shoot 'in the middle.' Then I looked in my hand and thought, the middle of one of these is heaven on earth - or at least pretty darn good.
