What's new

What part of the globe would you describe as a photographer's paradise?

For landscapes:
Yellowstone-Glacier
Southern Utah

Fashion and models:
Southern Florida

Kayaking:
Idaho or Colorado

Almost anywhere there are people.
My preference is for warmer, wetter areas so there is lots of foliage and colors get toasted so I like Asia, central America, that kind of stuff.

The areas surrounding Kunming, China.

Any place that you are not at... Really? EVERY nook and cranny could be a photographer's dream. The thing is we overlook everything familiar, we tend to look for the big picture instead of the little ones and we always think we live in the ugliest place on Earth compared to ___________.

You have obviously never lived in Lubbock, Texas.

I truly believe that it is one of the only places on Earth that is legitimately ugly.

Any studio I'm in with the right models. Sunday it was 5 models, body painter, hair artist, make-up artist, a pro photographer/mentor shooting, and I didn't even have to leave sunny Tampa

I have to say probably my favorite place to shoot still is back home in Kentucky. Although I am a bit biased since I am mainly an Equine photographer and which better place to go than horse capital of the world. Although i would LOVE to shoot in Italy and Alaska. Maybe one day.

I went to college and lived in Alaska for 3 years when my husband was army... God, how I'd love to go back now!

Not Lubbock, but Fort Hood-which has to be just as bad or worse... BUT to someone who has never been there? There is SO MUCH to photograph. It's just living there that makes it horrific.

Definitely NEW YORK. Lots of big companies and paying clients. Though I hear the rent is very expensive.

That's a loaded question if I ever have seen one. But the answer is pretty simple:

The Grand Canon, ... Actually the fjords in the Neatherlands, ... no hold up the Himalayas, ... actually stuff mountains the beaches in Australia, ... the salty plains in Lake Eyre, maybe the Great Barrier Reef, or is it the Amazon rain forest? How about architecture, Poland would be a bit of a win there, no wait Dubai there's modern stuff there.

I could keep going but you get my drift. Every part of the globe is some photographer's paradise

Even London? Where they treat photographers a little better than terrorist. Or North Korea...where you are told where and what to photograph.

The former yes, how you are being treated does not impact the potential of an amazing photograph. And I have seen some amazing photographs from London.
The latter yes, too for the same reasons. Political instability doesn't change the beautiful landscapes of North Korea which would be amazing to photograph.

It is clear you and I have a different definition of paradise.
